Our client is a leading media start up, that is growing aggressively. Their Accounting and Finance team is looking too add a specialist within revenue at the manager level.  if you have specific Revenue Management experience, a CPA and past public accounting experience, we want to hear from you!   We are looking for an intelligent, motivated, detail oriented individual to handle a variety of accounting roles, specifically working with revenue and billing. The ideal candidate will be system savvy, meticulous, personable, and able to both take direction and take initiative. The position reports directly to the Controller and will interact regularly with the sales team.

 

Revenue Recognition Responsibilities:

• Ownership and oversight of the companys revenue process and revenue system from beginning to end

• Daily validation and on-going maintenance of the revenue tracking system (Zuora)

• Manage operational data and ensure data integrity and accuracy

• Recording and reconciling app store and enterprise revenue

• Recording and reconciling new revenue streams, as required

• Month end, quarter end and year end close processes: Revenue and associated balance sheet reconciliations; Reporting of revenue and collection details to Controller and Finance; Journal entries related to revenue (deferral/amortization) and cash (collections/receivables)

• Create streamlined and automated processes that could then be handed off to a staff

• Execution of appropriate revenue recognition and ensuring compliance with accounting policies in compliance with US GAAP, including proper ASC 606 implementation

• Assist with Sales Tax and VAT software implementation (Avalara), and maintaining processes going forward to ensure proper filings and remittance of tax

• Collaborate with business partners and customers to establish better relationships and support in establishing process improvements

• Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Controller informed of all critical revenue related issues

• Preparing and maintaining supporting documentation for the revenue process

• Assist with special projects and preparation of technical accounting revenue memos, as necessary

 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Ability to understand and learn new accounting software including subscription billing platforms and merchant gateways

• Assist with the annual audits, including the preparation of schedules provided to auditors

• Assist in establishing internal controls surrounding the tasks performed

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and minimize inefficiencies

• Assist with special projects and miscellaneous support on various subject matters, as necessary

• Multinational currency experience (specifically in the UK/EU)

• Strong team player and willing to do whatever it takes

 

Education and Experience:

• 6-8 years of accounting experience

• 3-4 years of revenue accounting experience

• Management experience a plus

• BA/BS in Accounting

• Well-rounded technical US GAAP knowledge and implementation skills

• CPA Certification a plus

• Proficient knowledge in Excel

• Proficient in ERP (NetSuite a plus) and billing platform experience (Zuora a plus)

• Experience with sales tax software (Avalara) or filings a plus
