One of the largest aftermarket parts distributors in the world is looking to hire a Senior Cost Accountant to their team. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will ensure accurate cost of goods sold and inventory valuation for all inventory sites. You will proactively implement solutions to ensure solid costing processes and internal controls are in place.
Location: Hollywood Florida- Hybrid
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Oversee routine standard costing processes, support staff in clearing unusual or difficult issues
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of product costing
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as operations, supply chain, engineering, and sales to ensure accurate and timely COGS reporting
- Investigate manufacturing cost variances and implement robust process solutions to eliminate recurring variances across our manufacturing sites
- Ensure inventory is properly stated, internal controls are adequate, and implement process improvements where needed
- Support Physical Inventory (PI) count processes
- Documenting procedures and streamlining transaction processing to improve efficiencies
- Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, with a concentration in Accounting, required
- 5+ years of relevant cost accounting work experience is required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/CPA Eligibility or a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred but not required
- Experience in developing and maintaining standard costing systems, overhead allocation methods, and inventory reconciliation processes required.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Ability to be adaptable to change
- Constant desire to learn and challenge others to find the best solution
- High level of proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
