Stress is something that affects all of us in different ways. But today, on National Simplicity Day, we’re encouraged to take things a little easier. 

The National Institute of Mental Health says that long tern constant stress can negatively impact your immune, digestive and even reproductive systems. Finding a hobby is one way to relieve stress. Brooke Alexander, owner of the Alexander Baking Co. in Rogers turned her hobby into her career. She recommends baking as a way to relax today and other days.

“It forces you to slow down,” she said. “Whether I’m in the kitchen baking a recipe, coming up with something new, or sitting to decorate cookies, that’s what I’m focused on.”

Experts also recommend exercising, meditating, or playing music as ways to relax.
